Happy New Year!!!

Cue the music, celebrations, and dancing!

New Year’s Eve weddings are SO MUCH fun! The excitement is contagious and there is nothing better than celebrating your new marriage and the new year with all of your friends and family there to party with you!

Meghan and Ali’s wedding took place at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. They couldn’t have picked a better place to say “I do” on New Year’s Eve! With the multiple crystal chandeliers, colorful furniture, and a red grand piano, we did not run out of places to pose and capture! Meghan and Ali were also dressed to match in a chic style: Meghan with old hollywood curls and sleek silk dress, and Ali in a white tux with black accents.

The ceremony aisle was lined with candles and they had a sheer white curtain with lights as a backdrop, as well as white bouquets on stands. One of the things we loved about their wedding was how they brought together two different cultures in their wedding plans. As part of their ceremony they did hand-fasting, which represents two people becoming one. It was a really nice touch to have both of their mothers be the ones to tie the ribbons too!

The reception space was decorated with black and gold New Year’s Eve decorations. At each guest’s spot was a mini champagne bottle as a thank you gift. In front of the head table was a light up “Cheers” sign and a large dance floor. Along the edges of the room was a bar, dessert table with sweets, and table with New Year’s Eve party favors. The cake was decorated with pink and white roses and pearls, and a topper that said “Kiss me at midnight”.

Their Arabic entrance into the reception was so fun! Arab drummers played music and fog rolled out as the wedding party danced into the reception. Meghan and Ali took the center of the dance floor as the drummers surrounded them in a circle and after a few minutes they beckoned for guests to join them. The dance floor turned into a crowd of moving hands and feet, all to the drum beat! The energy was infectious! Ali got lifted up above the crowd and Meghan stepped up onto a drum to dance.

After dinner they cut the cake, and then everyone got down on the dance floor! Meghan re-entered the party in a completely different reception dress with silver fringe that swayed as she danced. Then the late night comfort food was rolled out by the caterers: mini burgers, fried chicken, and fries. By midnight guests had grabbed their NYE party favors and when it came to the countdown everyone chimed together for  the New Year. The night ended with a send-off with large cold sparklers and sparklers for the guests to hold. Meghan and Ali shared a kiss in the middle of the sparklers and of course, we had to get some portraits of them in front of the cold sparklers before we left!

We would happily do another New Year’s Eve wedding! It turned out to be one of our favorite weddings to capture!
